Obama authorizes himself to declare martial law

Obama listens to a question in Seoul, South Korea, Sunday, March 25.
Obama's executive order, “National Defense Resources Preparedness,”
issued on March 16, essentially "states that, in case of a war
or national emergency, the federal government has the authority
to take over almost every aspect of American society," writes columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner.

Quoted excerpt:

Which begs the question: Would that tempt Mr. Obama to claim a state of emergency and thereby implement his executive order? No one knows the answer. And we shouldn’t have to find out. The president does not — and should not - have the authority to subordinate the entire private economy to the government, especially without the consent of Congress and the American people. It is national socialism masquerading as military security.
This is why conservatives — those who are serious about defending our constitutional republic - should demand that the executive order be repealed immediately. Liberals argue that President Clinton issued a nearly identical mandate. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the first national defense resources preparedness order, which has been amended by successive presidents, including George W. Bush. Hence, according to the progressive left, if it was good enough for FDR, Mr. Clinton and Mr. Bush, why not Mr. Obama?
The answer is simple: Because the Constitution matters — or at least it should. For more than 70 years, liberal Democrats and corporatist Republicans have been slowly dismantling the old republic, imposing a creeping social democracy. The Founding Fathers’ vision of limited government and federalism has been replaced by a new ruling class. FDR, Mr. Clinton, Mr. Bush — all of them were militarists expanding the size and scope of government. They were Wilsonian globalists, and they shamelessly violated civil liberties. FDR was the worst, by forcing Japanese-Americans into internment camps.

Mr. Obama’s executive order represents the culmination of the welfare-warfare state. He is walking in the footsteps of his predecessors, those who enabled the rise of the imperial presidency. And it leads to only one tragic end: the gradual deterioration of our democracy.

"Obamacare's Assault on Religious Liberty"
Paul A. Rahe, Professor of History, Hillsdale College
Live Webcast - Tuesday, April 10, 2012 - 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Paul A. Rahe holds the Charles O. Lee and Louise K. Lee Chair in Western Heritage and is Professor of History at Hillsdale College. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University and has taught at Cornell University and the University of Tulsa. He blogs on Ricochet.com and has authored several books, including Soft Despotism, Democracy’s Drift and Republics Ancient and Modern: Classical Republicanism and the American Revolution.

Funding for this month's First Principles on First Fridays program has been provided by the Philip M. McKenna Foundation.

This will be interesting in light of the recent US Supreme Court discussions of Obamacare.

It has been said that the declaration of the individual mandate, as unconstitutional, will void the whole Obamacare law.

President Obama embraces |Obamacare| label. But why?

Read Article

I have been scolded, insulted, disrespected, et cetera, by Liberals for calling Obamacare…Obamacare.

Democrats now acknowledge they lost that message fight — and the results of the 2010 election, in which Republicans ran hard against the law and picked up a whopping 63 seats in the House, is evidence of that fact. Even now polling suggests a majority of the American public — 52 percent in an early March Washington Post-ABC News poll — oppose the law. See linked article

Obamacare is the main focus of this article. However, there are a number of other things mentioned in the article, such as…Paul Ryan would accept a Vice Presidential job.

Thank you for visiting!

How Many Citizens | Will Fast March 26, 2012?

hillsdale college building

Muslims fast during daylight hours during Ramadan.

I have fasted. I fasted for 40 hours on March 18, 2012.

It might be a good idea to fast March 26, 2012. The occasion: Obamacare will be considered by the US Supreme Court.

I didn’t know the following document existed:

December 11, 1776

Whereas, the war in which the United States are engaged with Great Britain, has not only been prolonged, but is likely to be carried to the greatest extremity; and whereas, it becomes all public bodies, as well as private persons, to reverence the Providence of God, and look up to him as the supreme disposer of all events, and the arbiter of the fate of nations; therefore,

Resolved, That it be recommended to all the United States, a soon as possible, to appoint a day of solemn fasting and humiliation; to implore of Almighty God the forgiveness of the many sins prevailing among all ranks, and to beg the countenance as assistance of his Providence in the prosecution of the present just and necessary war.

The Congress do also, in the most earnest manner, recommend to all the members of the United States, and particularly the officers civil and military under them, the exercise of repentance and reformation; and further, require of them the strict observation of the articles of war, and particularly, that part of the said articles, which forbids profane swearing, and all immorality, of which all such officers are desired to take notice.

It is left to each State to issue out proclamations fixing the days that appear most proper within their several bounds.

I learned this from Hillsdale College.

President Obama’s Showdown With God | God Will Handle It–Updated

Familiar Space

The US Supreme Court will start consideration of Obamacare on Monday March 26, 2012.

President Obama plans to have a prayer vigil, March 26, for Obamacare. This man, who sat in Reverend Wright’s church for twenty years…and then left. This man supports the killing of aborted babies, who survive abortion. The man who has Ezekiel Emanuel in his administration, who advocates elimination of the Hippocratic oath and death for senior citizens. The man who praises and aids Muslims. The man who left the Creator out of his speeches, when referring to the Declaration of Independence.

It will be interesting to see how God handles this.

President Obama, David Axlerod, and George Soros are not dealing with Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and illegal immigrants here. They are dealing with the Creator, Divine Providence. Natures God, and Supreme Judge of the World. I have realized that the US Constitution and The Declaration of Independence are based on belief in God.

Atheists are ignored as far as the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution is concerned. The atheists are either unwilling or unable to change the constitution.

The Creator of the universe, which has no boundaries, which has distances measured in light years, which has a sun with awesome properties, will see a prayer vigil for Obamacare, and will act with divine wisdom.

Update:

Joe Guerra posted these links… from the US Senate: Link

The House has passed a bill to eliminate the death panel: Link
