Political Cartoons by Robert Ariail »
I’ve been curious as to how many votes it takes in the senate to change the rules.
It only takes 50 votes according to this article. http://news.firedoglake.com/2012/11/07/reid-urges-end-to-obstruction-but-only-reforming-the-filibuster-will-do-it/
The Democrats outnumber Republicans in the senate 55 to 45…with one seat undecided.
Currently…it takes 60 votes to stop a filibuster.
So, Reid gets a bill passed without a filibuster. Now, how does he get it past the House?
